Eat Dirt

March 10, 2017

I live in the badlands. The word bentonite is oft-spoke. The clay is generated by the alteration of volcanic ash. The coulees I love are filled with it. The steep walls become slippery and dangerous to climb after a rain. Many a time have I slid down a hill, covered in the slimy mud. Until I became really ill, bentonite was just some “dirt” and an annoying aspect of the hills to be avoided after snowmelt or rainstorm. Now I eat the stuff (not straight from the coulee mind you).

It’s Not Easy Being Green….

March 5, 2017

Before writing a post about bentonite clay, food-sourced anti-inflammatories, and the benefits of alkaline eating I need to write an honest and real post about cheeseburgers. I am not a purist. I have followed a strict alkaline diet and consumed my 8-10 servings of veggies a day. I was juicing and steaming and gagging down the healthiest of plants. But then I snapped. No improvement in symptoms and worsening digestive issues made me question why I was cutting out certain foods (except nightshades, they always caused pain and a bad “flare”). The only cure for a “snap” was a trip to a diner. During my worst herxes, when no IV solution or pill or massage helped, my mom would whip up a cheeseburger and all would be well. Illogical in many ways, I know, but when something works you stick with it. And now, despite a desperate desire to eat super clean I find solace at the golden arches. Of course I eat lots of alkaline fruits and vegetables and take things like chlorella and clay to stay healthy, but I throw a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers into my meals. Here’s how it all started. And honestly, I am not ashamed. Hoping all my followers who think I am crunchy, granola, green, etc. aren’t too disappointed.

Fertility, Miscarriage, PMS, Congenital Lyme

February 24, 2017

From undetected MTHFR genetic mutations to infections like Lyme bacteria, women have much to consider when planning to have a family. When I went to the US for treatments years ago part of the routine blood work included screening for the MTHFR genetic mutation. For treatments this information was valuable because it explained my inability to detox properly, led to coagulation testing (which I ended up having), and provided insight as to why I was deficient in some nutrients. I was focused on Lyme treatment but what I learned relates to any woman trying to conceive. Continue reading to discover what I have learned about common but little known reasons for miscarriage, infertility, and transmission of infections to babies.   Continue Reading…

My Treatments

February 6, 2017

Below is a list of the combinations of pharmaceuticals and herbals I have taken, continue to take, or researched. I am not suggesting a cure. Chronic Lyme is just that. But I’ve found ways to reduce the infections and symptoms to the point I have good days consistently.

Scroll through to find the infections you are dealing with (I cover babesia, bartonella, Lyme, and others).

I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  I RESEARCH FOR FUN. I KEEP TRACK OF MEDICAL JOURNALS AND ADVANCEMENTS TO STAY ORGANIZED AND IN CHARGE OF MY HEALTH. DO NOT USE MY GUIDELINES AS THE GOSPEL.  I just want to provide some guidance for my Lymie friends who are stuck and do not know what to try next.  I suggest reading the works of Dr. Horowitz, Dr. Burrascano, Dr. Cameron, and Stephen Buhner.

Text in purple are the treatments I had the most success with.

Stop Worrying

December 9, 2016

Before explaining tactics that helped me stop worrying, it is important to mention that they were successful because I first sought the root causes of my anxiety and worrisome ways. In understanding the source, I was better able to eradicate the habit of reacting to stress with worry. Knowing why I worried and felt anxious laid the foundation to breaking the habit and forming new, healthier habits. It took time, lots of walks down memory lane, and careful observation of my reactions.

I encourage all worriers out there to do the same. Why is your reaction to stress, panic? Why do you dwell on things? Why are you living with constant stomach aches?
